Peter has recently left the NHS, after a 37 year career. He has spent the last 23 years as CEO of five different organizations, including Health Authorities, Primary Care and Care Trusts, and Acute Trusts. Through his leadership of the development of integrated services in Torbay, Peter has become widely known as a leading practitioner in the field of integrated care.
Torbay Care Trust was one of the first NHS organizations to deliver community health services, and the full range of adult Social care on behalf of its Local Authority. This approach to service delivery has been thoroughly evaluated by the Kings Fund, and others, and has now has a decade’s evidence of:
- Increased numbers of people supported to remain independent
- Improved resource utilization, with exceptionally low levels of emergency hospitalization, and reducing levels of nursing and residential home care.
- Negligible delays in discharge and transfers of care.
- High levels of patient, service user, and staff satisfaction.
Peter was the first CEO of the Care Trust, and Director of Adult Social Services for Torbay. He has recently applied this experience to the development of services in Cornwall, and North Somerset. He is now looking to offer this experience to other health and social care systems, which are looking to accelerate their progress in developing integrated services.
Peter has considerable experience in the development of individuals, and leadership teams. He is a qualified executive coach.
